You know some sayings can be true. April showers can really bring May flowers. My May was filled with mostly happy moments. Spending time with all my friends in May made me realize those are my May flowers. Friendships that are sprouting and blooming into something really pleasant.
I have felt so grateful because I remember sitting and praying and hoping for at least one solid friend. 10 years ago, I was so jealous of those who had someone to call their best friend. I am so blessed to have a solid batch of friends by my side. My little garden of flowers is blooming and I’m in love with it.
However, where there is flora… there are insects. Unfortunately, the insects are not always the nice and pollinating kind. Some bugs… well, they bug. With the sight of some June bugs, my friends reminded me to let them be. That while some of those bugs eat off my leaves, it doesn’t take away from who I am.
I am so grateful for friends who see me, uplift me, and love me too much to leave me rotting. I am grateful for the friends who cared about my sleep. I am grateful for the friends who were willing to sit and eat with me when I couldn’t bare to eat anything. I am grateful for the friends who leave voice notes praying for me and encouraging me. I am grateful for the friends who sat and listened to my pain. I am grateful for those who hugged me until the tears stopped flowing. I am grateful for friends who ask the hard questions and speak the truth with love. I am grateful for the friends who help me to enjoy life.
You reap what you sow, right? July is here, and this garden is teeming. I think the recurring word I have been getting since April was “Enjoy.” June gloom is real and depending on where you are in the world, it can still rain in the summer. We need the water to keep growing, don’t we? So… embrace it. Embrace it all, my dear. Embrace the heartache. Embrace the disappointment. Embrace the moments of hope. Embrace the love being poured in. Embrace the people around you that keep showing up for you.
Happy blooming, my darling!
